Shure SM54
Description: The Models SM53 and SM54 are rugged dynamic cardioid microphones expressly designed for professional applications requiring the ultimate in sound quality and control. The performance and appearance of the two models are very similar; however, the SM54 is specifically designed for use in very difficult close talking and hand-held situations because of its immunity to "pop" and breath blasts. Microphone Features: - Broad, smooth frequency response: provides clean, natural reproduction of both voice and music. - Cardioid directional pattern: optimum for wide front working area with excellent side and rear rejection; off-axis rejection is uniform with frequency and symmetrical about axis to prevent sound coloration and ~rovidem aximum control of unwanted sound. - Integral acoustic "pop" filter on the SM54 virtually eliminates problems of explosive speech and breath sounds. - Minimal proximity effect: same well-balanced sound from close talking to distant pickup. - Mechanical noise isolation: cartridge shockmounted to minimize stand and handling noise. - Bass rolloff switch: provides a gradual low frequency rolloff in applications where an overall rising response characteristic is advantageous. - Extremely low hum sensitivity: permits use in extreme hum fields. - Rugged construction: assures dependable
Applications: The SM53 and SM54 are designed for both stand and hand-held use. No special precautions are required to avoid obstruction of the rear entries, since normal operation is assured even with only one of the small rear entry holes open. The reliable performance, outstanding features and handsome appearance of the SM53 and SM54 make them extremely versatile and ideally suited for many demanding applications in television, radio, recording, motion pictures and sound reinforcement. They may be intermixed on stage and on camera with near identical appearance and performance.

Beyer M500 Ribbon, hypercardioid
The beyerdynamic model M 500 is a true hypercardioid dynamic ribbon microphone with wide range response and high output, created especially for the most exacting professional use. Emphasizing a major technological sbreakthrough in ribbon design technique, the M 500 is particularly suited for high level sound applications. The unique beyerdynamic ribbon used in the M 500 measures only 0.85 inch in length, and weighs only 0.00034 grams. The transducer mass is, therefore, a mere fraction of that of the speech coil and diaphragm of a moving coil microphones, and this results in a demonstratively better transient response. An improved “no feedback” characteristic is also obtained. This is particularly important in commercial sound applications.
The M 500 print out shows the rising high frequency response so essential to modern music artists and others, the result of months of research and design innovation. In this respect, the M 500 is unlike the standard beyerdynamic ribbon, which is essentially flat in response. A new and unique four-stage integral blast filter permits hand-held use with lips almost touching the microphone without danger of popping, hissing, and breathing sounds.
The M 500 was primarily developed to cover the special needs of pop vocalists and instrumentalists, and records the true sound of the music in absolute fidelity. It combines the sharp attack of a condenser and the sturdy reliability of a moving coil with the unique presence of a ribbon. The M 500 is designed to withstand the rigors of professional use, will accept sound levels of more than 130 dB, and is completely unaffected by extremes of atmospheric conditions.

Beyer M260 Ribbon, hypercardioid.
The M 260 has a flat frequency response and a natural, warm "ribbon" sonic profile making it a highly effective element of the digital recording process. The hypercardioid polar pattern provides an extremely high gain before feedback and elimination of lateral noise (maximum at 115°). The M 260 is equipped with a built-in high pass filter which compensates the close miking effect, when the microphone is applied very close to an instrument. The microphone also features a high insensitivity towards magnetic stray fields and extreme temperatures. The rugged grille protects the microphone system against accidental hits and kicks.
Applications: The M 260 is used for vocals and miking instruments. |

Bayer M88 Dynamic, hypercardioid.
Description: The M 88 offers both a wide frequency response and rugged construction making an ideal combination for many applications. The TourGroup version (M 88 TG) has a reinforced basket to withstand rough handling when being used for more demanding applications.
Applications: In the studio and live use its high SPL capability allows the microphone to be placed close to loud sound sources such as kick drum and bass guitar. It is also equally impressive as a vocal microphone or for brass and windwood instruments. When miking bass or kick drums the PS 88 popscreen or WS 59 windscreen must be used. The M 88 is often used in a broadcast environment as an announcer's or EFP microphone. |

Bayer M69 Dynamic, hypercardioid.
Description: The M 69 is a professional dynamic microphone with a wide frequency response and can be used in studio or live applications. In live situations its excellent hypercardioid pickup pattern guarantees high gain before feedback by comparison to other microphones. The M 69 is well suited for sound contractors for use in churches or as an announcers microphones. In the studio its uses are wide varied but can be particularly recommended for the recording of guitars, brass and woodwind. The TourGroup™ version (M 69 TG) has a reinforced basket to withstand rough handling when being used for more demanding applications. |

Electrovoice RE20 Dynamic, cardioid. Description: The Electro-Voice Model RE20 is a Dynamic professional quality dynamic cardioid microphone created specially for recording, broadcast, and sound reinforcement applications requiring essentially flat response over a very wide frequency range. The wide frequency response, coupled with excellent transient response, makes the RE20 easily comparable to the finest condenser cardioid microphones. However, the RE20 is virtually free of bass-boosting “proximity effect” when used close, because in design it is a Continuously Variable-D microphone. An easily operated “bass tilt down” switch corrects spectrum balance for use in long-reach situations, or other applications where bass attenuation is needed. A true cardioid microphone, the RE20 offers greatest rejection at 180°
off axis—directly to the rear of the microphone. Directional control
is so effective that the frequency response is nearly independent of angular
location of sound source, creating virtually no off-axis coloration yet
providing greatest possible rejection of unwanted sounds. Applications: Warm full vocals, drums, bass instruments. |
